God is Good to My Family

Yesterday I attended the Recognition Program of Congress Elementary School in Caloocan City. My youngest son Emilio received seven medals including the First Honors for Grade III.

God has blessed Emilio this year. My 8-year old son won several awards in Metrobank-DepEd- MTAP Math Challenge highlighted by a second place in the individual Math contest at the Public Sector Level (Metro Manila Public Schools). His triumphs mean that he will get to buy some toys of his choice.

My wife and I are really thankful to God for blessing our son. The only wise God is the source of all wisdom. We made it a point to teach our children that it was God who gave them intellect and that it is but proper for them to use their talents for His glory.

God is good.

Ripples

During the closing ceremony of our Management Workshop, each participant was given the following poem, entitled, RIPPLES.

Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.

Drop a pebble in the water: in a minute you forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And those little waves a-flowing to agreat big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river just by dropping in a stone.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on.
They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripple circling yet,
And perhaps in some sad heart a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy ere you dropped that unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a minute you forget;
But there's gladness still a-swelling, and there's joy circling yet,
And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose sweet music can be heard
Over miles and miles of water just by dropping one kind word.

So there. Watch your word. As Proverb 25:11 say, "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."

God is good... All the time.

Jabez Cards

Our Management Workshop facilitator introduced us to Jabez cards. These cards contain phrases or sayings on one face and short explanation or exposition on the other face. By the way, Jabez is an Old Testament figure who made a short prayer to God and the Lord granted his request.

In 1 Chron 4:10, "Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, 'Oh that Thou would bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast [territory], and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou would keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!' And God granted him that which he requested."

Most of the cards shown to us are self-centered. Some people are using Jabez cards as sort of magic or supernatural to get what they want in life. Well, that's a little bit far off and lifting a Bible verse out of context. But I read a couple of cards that are focused on God. One card says,

Front Face: "The Father knows you intimately."

Back: "He has already given you strategic opportunities, passions, interest, and capabilities. These are the starting points for how He will touch the world through you."

This is true. God has a plan for each one especially the Christians. He gave talents to each person to accomplish Divine plans in this world. To Christians, Christ added Grace Gifts so that they can glorify God and edify His Church.

I believe God has given me unique blend of talents and spiritual gifts. He has a plan for me. All I need to do is to live for Him and let Christ lead me. I believe that today is my chance to prepare for my time will come to be God's channel of blessings to others.
